Our story
Meet the Owner, Lucas Redman

Serving my community has always been part of who I am. I joined the volunteer fire service in Howard County at 16, and I’m still answering calls today.

A year later I picked up my first tools in construction and property management, and that’s where I learned what a job done right looks like.

In 2018 I traded the tool belt for a badge and spent about seven years as a police officer, first with Baltimore County and then back home in Howard County. In Baltimore County I was honored to be named Officer of the Month twice and to receive the Silver Star, and those years taught me a lot about showing up for people when it counts.
Then I found out my first child was on the way, and everything shifted. I wanted to be there for my family, and I wanted to build something of my own. So I hung up the badge and went back to the work I started with, taking care of yards, homes, and properties for the people around me.
The only thing I couldn’t figure out was what to call it. That’s when my grandfather told me a story I’d never heard. Years ago, he started a small company called Redman Structures Inc. so he could get builder magazines and teach himself to build his own house, from the foundation up. He still lives in that house today, and it’s still rock solid.
My dad later took the name for his own business and built it from scratch, before eventually moving to Virginia and starting a new company, Lightpoint Designs. By the time my grandfather finished the story, I knew I wanted to be the third generation to carry the Redman Structures name.
That name is a lot to live up to, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It pushes me to show up on time, do the job right, and treat every property like it’s my own. At the end of the day, this business is how I take care of my family, and I’m grateful for every neighbor in Carroll and Howard Counties who trusts us to take care of theirs. We’ve also been proud to give back, like sponsoring the kits for a group of my police buddies riding a 100-mile ride for Salisbury University’s athletic department.

And none of this happens without my wife. She’s been there every step of the way, from late calls with the fire service to long shifts on the force to the day I decided to go out on my own. She’s my biggest supporter, and she’s also the one who keeps me in line. Whatever Redman Structures becomes, it’s built on her support as much as anything I do.
